About Ball State University

Located in Muncie, Indiana, just one hour northeast of Indianapolis, Ball State University is a vibrant, welcoming campus with approximately 20,000 students. Founded as a teachers college, the university educates more elementary and secondary teachers than any other campus in Indiana, using a curriculum that blends traditional classroom learning with innovative methodologies.

Teacher Preparation at Ball State University

The teacher preparation program for Fellows at Ball State will focus on life science, math, physics, and physical science, building on Ball State’s existing partnership with the National Science Foundation. More information.

Schools/Districts Working With Ball State University

Ball State has selected four schools in its Professional Development Schools Network as locations for the Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellows Program. The university has strong relationships with these schools, and a Ball State faculty member is on-site throughout the week. Beginning in summer 2012, Ball State will also be partnering with schools in the Fort Wayne area.

The locations in the Muncie Community Schools are:

  • Central High School
  • Southside High School

The schools in the Anderson Community School Corporation are:

  • Anderson High School
  • Highland High School

The schools are in mid-sized cities with culturally, racially, and socio-economically diverse student populations, providing Fellows with a breadth of experiences that will translate to a variety of settings and school systems—both urban and rural—across the state.
